๐ Tender Overview
The Chief of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), Aviation General Altino Carlos dos Santos, reaffirmed today, in Malanje, the continuous modernization and re-equipment of the National Air Force (FAN), to better fulfill its role and mission. Speaking at the central event of the National Air Force Day, which is celebrated today, he said that the re-equipment in progress will be continuous, despite the financial restraint that the current context demands, and therefore, there will be a definition of realistic priorities.
He said that the FAA wants an increasingly strong, modern and properly equipped National Air Force, with well-trained personnel and a high sense of patriotism, to guarantee the inviolability of airspace. "The reforms of the FAA are a central and unavoidable issue. In this sense, actions are continuing to modernize, restructure and re-equip them, vital factors to be able to effectively face the challenges of the future", he assured.
He stressed that modernization aims at the continuous defense of sovereignty and territorial integrity, providing defense agencies with broad combative and operational capabilities and transforming them into the determining factor for the success of distinct and varied missions. He stressed that this branch of the FAA has always known how to overcome critical moments and follow the dynamics of the time to face the turbulent periods that marked the history of Angola.
Over the course of 49 years, the National Air Force has undergone several phases of development, both human and technical and aeronautical, which has contributed to the branch reaching the size and prestige it has today. For this reason, he said that the FAN has always had brave men, who with a fighting spirit and high patriotism, knew how to interpret the signs of the times, dedicating themselves body, soul and heart to the cause of the country, shedding sweat, tears and blood on the battlefields.
"The legacy must be left so that today's youth can effectively know and receive the testimony and maintain the mystique and fighting traditions of this branch", he stressed, adding that the FAN military has always demonstrated its high capacity to serve well, and made this branch with high standards of operationality proven by the notable feats carried out throughout the years of war. In this chapter of history, the general highlighted some important aspects, highlighting the enormous efficiency achieved in combat missions, sacrifice and courage of many young people and technicians in the most diverse specialties and who, in circumstances of high risk, made a strong contribution to the combative morale of the troops on the ground.
"We must remain firm in our aim to empower the FAA so that it can fully assume all the missions that fall to it, as defender of the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, overcoming any threats", he maintained. On the other hand, he pointed out that the fight to rescue the civic, ethical and moral values ??that society lives by today is of great concern to the country's authorities. He said that the FAA is bound by specific standards where discipline, hierarchy and a single command constitute its main pillars, having in the whole process elements of military, legal, patriotic and other education that contribute to changing military behavior during the training phase, equipping itself with principles so that its attitude is always in line with the country's goals.
The celebrations of the 49th anniversary of the National Air Force held at Malanje Airport and witnessed by the provincial governor, Marcos Nhunga and senior FAA commanders, were marked by a ceremony of patenting of personnel, a parade of troops and the release of paratroopers.
