The Executive intends to inaugurate and make available to citizens, by November next year, more than 150 economic and social enterprises, associated with the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence.
The information, provided by the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, highlights among the first infrastructures to be inaugurated the General Hospital of Cuanza-Norte, on November 12th.
The vast program, which starts in November and runs until December 2025, also includes the inauguration of several hospital units, with emphasis on the Hospitals of Uíge, Mbanza Kongo, Pedro Maria Tonha "Pedalé" Hospital Complex, Huambo Pediatric Hospital, as well as a Paralympic complex in Bengo.
For the National Defense sector, he reported that the completion of the Soyo Naval Base, the Maritime Surveillance Centers under advanced construction in the provinces of Namibe and Benguela, and regional hospitals are also planned.
When giving a short presentation of the programme of activities for the 50th anniversary of Independence to the members of the Council of the Republic, Adão de Almeida said that the Interior sector will have several Integrated Public Security Centres and police stations.
Regarding the Justice sector, the coordinator of the Interministerial Commission for the Organization of Commemorative Actions Alluding to the 50th Anniversary of National Independence announced the opening of several Registry Offices and other ventures.
In terms of Territorial Administration, municipal infrastructures, administrative and residential complexes are also under construction to be inaugurated as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Angola's Independence.
Inaugurations are also planned in the Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas sector, with emphasis on a Gold Refinery, the first phase of the Cabinda Refinery, as well as the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal.
There are also plans to open airport infrastructures and complete the pier at the Cabinda Deep Water Terminal, known as Porto do Caio, solar power plants in several provinces and projects in the Telecommunications sector, as well as the completion of several road sections.
Adão de Almeida said that it is a dynamic program, which as the projects are completed and inaugurated, will be made available to citizens.
On the occasion, the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic said that the Celebration Program contains a total of 115 activities in general, but there is still some space for some other activities to be considered.
Throughout the year, he added, activities will be developed to celebrate and pay tribute to the main and various actors in important moments and places of National Independence, and this program should consider the identification of historical figures so that these personalities are honored throughout the year.
Historic residence where the National Anthem was written
He announced the exaltation of historical moments and emblematic places that should be identified through competitions and participation of various segments so that throughout the year the country has a journey of tributes and exaltation of the authors.
He reported that it is within the framework of this philosophy that the intention is to elevate as a historical landmark a residence adjacent to the presidential area where the National Anthem was written.
The objective, explained Adão de Almeida, is to find places like this that have symbolism of this nature and in some way exalt these places so that they serve as a reference and collective historical memory for current and future generations.
From the package of more than 115 activities, the Minister of State announced that the first will take place on the 22nd of next November, when the period of celebrations will be opened, with the holding of a National Forum on the Quality of the Education and Teaching System.
The National Forum aims to encourage reflection on what the National Education and Teaching System has been like over the past 50 years, and from there reflect on the future in relation to the matter under discussion.
"This will be the first activity, although we will have the official launch, a ceremony to be held on November 29th", he highlighted.
He announced that on the 29th, next to Largo da Independência, the Interministerial Commission will officially launch the celebrations, at the approximate location where National Independence was proclaimed.
US-Africa Business Summit
Adão de Almeida also said that the 17th United States-Africa Business Summit, to be held from 20 to 27 June 2025, in Luanda, is also part of the vast programme of celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Angola's Independence.
Regarding the mega event, which will bring together senior businessmen from the US and practically all countries on the African continent, he stressed that it will put Angola on the path of economic diplomacy.
The programme of activities includes the National Music Congress, national school games, the National Culture Festival (FENACULT), the African Basketball Championship and wrestling competitions, as well as a Conference on the History of Journalism, which will serve to pay tribute to Angolan journalists who have lent their knowledge in this field over the past 50 years, among many other activities.
Adão de Almeida also stressed that all national celebrations next year will be held under the signs of the 50th anniversary of National Independence.
