The governors of the provinces of Cuando, Cubango, Icolo and Bengo and Moxico Leste have committed to improving the infrastructure of their respective provinces, to provide socio-economic development and change the image of these localities.
This commitment was made this Wednesday, December 18, during the inauguration of the five governors appointed on Tuesday, in a ceremony held at the Palácio Presidencial da Cidade Alta and led by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
José Martins took office as governor of the province of Cubango, Lúcio Gonçalves Amaral, of Cuando, Crispiniano Vivaldino Evaristo dos Santos, of Moxico Leste, Auzílio de Oliveira Martins Jacob, of Icolo and Bengo, and Narciso Damásio dos Santos Benedito, of Cuanza Sul.
Angola has a new Political-Administrative Division, which resulted in the creation of the provinces of Cuando, Cubango, Icolo and Bengo and Moxico Leste.
At the inauguration ceremony, the Head of State said he expected the governors to work towards the development of their respective territories.
"It certainly won't happen overnight, but I hope that in a few years' time they will be remembered as pioneers of this same development. At the moment, conditions are not ideal, they are difficult, precisely because of the lack of infrastructure that we will try to build gradually with each year's budget until we reach a satisfactory level", he stressed.
On the same occasion, the Secretary of State for Climate Action and Sustainable Development of the Ministry of the Environment, Nascimento da Costa Alexandre Soares, was also sworn in.
