At the same time, income from train tickets is needed to purchase new comfortable trains, pay the increased costs and continue to invest in good facilities. I am well aware that price increases have an impact on the wallets of travelers. That is why we offer significant discounts outside rush hour, when there is still enough room on the train.
The increase of 4.7 percent consists of three parts: the expected inflation for 2027, a correction to the inflation for 2026 and a previously agreed catch-up indexation of the missed inflation in the years 2020 - 2023. The price increase of a train ticket is subject to strict rules laid down in agreements with the government.
More benefits in quiet trains Outside rush hour, there are still plenty of available seats in many trains.Discounted train tickets - Price Time Deals - are often available for these trains.In 2027, the maximum discount on PrijsTijd deals will be increased from 60 to 80 percent.In addition, the PrijsTijd deals will also be available for same-day train travel in the course of 2027.This allows train passengers to travel more cheaply when there is sufficient space.
