Argentina Strategic Linking Tender

The National State invests 85 million pesos in two strategic projects for the Public Production of Medicines that articulate the capacities of three institutions of the scientific-technological system of the provinces of Ro Negro Crdoba and Buenos Aires to develop an innovative medicine against the tuberculosis.The initiatives are a successful example of federal articulation aimed at developing an antibiotic unprecedented in Latin America capable of producing an effective response against tuberculosis a disease that caused 10896 cases during 2020 in Argentina and is mainly located in vulnerable regions of the country.These are two articulated projects In the first project the laboratory from Rio Negro Farmacutica Farmacutica Rionegrina Sociedad del Estado PROFARSE partnered with the Center of Excellence in Products and Processes CEPROCOR located in the province of Crdoba to work on the research and development of an antibiotic of quadruple association which has no history in the country or in the region to treat tuberculosis. The financing of the National State through the Argentine Sectorial Fund FONASERC of the National Agency for the Promotion of Research Technological Development and Innovation RDi Agency in this case is 20 million pesos and will allow them to carry out the clinical trials in vivo and in vitro necessary to analyze the bioavailability and efficacy of the drug.The second project again involves PROFARSE but in this case in coordination with the National Institute of Industrial Technology INTI with the purpose of advancing from a financing of 65 million pesos in the adaptation of the pilot plants of both institutions so that they can operate in compliance with the regulations in force by the regulatory authority.INTIs new production plant will be in a position to move forward in the production scale-up of the raw material needed to produce this medicine against tuberculosis isoniazid which is now imported so the project allows substituting imports strengthening the national health system and advance in sovereignty in matters of public health.The relevance of these projects moreover lies in the fact that the work teams are made up mostly of women.The team from the National Directorate of Strategic Projects DNPE of the Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation MINCyT in charge of managing and monitoring these initiatives visited Viedma and toured the PROFARSE facilities where part of the development is carried out . Participating in the visit on behalf of the DNPE of the MINCyT was its National Director Erica Carrizo and the members of the technical team Natalia Casais Mariana Alemany and Juan Manuel da Fonseca.In turn the Minister of Health of the Province of Ro Negro Luis Zgaib and for PROFARSE the General Manager and co-Technical Director Marne Livigni the Technical Director Natalia Albornoz and the Administration Manager Lucas Casazza.During the tour Carrizo highlighted We are happy to support the work that PROFARSE is doing with two of our strategic projects that will allow it to produce better and new medicines for our public health system. This laboratory is not only an engine for our health sovereignty but also an example of collective and federal work due to the strategic association that it managed to generate within the framework of these projects together with the INTI of Buenos Aires and the CEPROCOR of Crdoba.For her part Marne Livigni said We are very happy with this accompaniment and very proud to receive this financing to promote our projects led largely by women and which aim to strengthen the value chain the national production of medicines and public alliances generating responses for the treatment of neglected diseases such as tuberculosis.About the Strategic Projects for the Public Production of MedicinesAt the beginning of 2022 the 19 Strategic Projects for the Public Production of Medicines began to be executed which resulted from a process of institutional articulation definition of priorities and specific financing focused on the sector based on a joint effort between the DNPE and the Ministry of Planning and Policies in Science Technology and Innovation of the MINCyT the National Agency of Public Laboratories ANLAP under the Ministry of Health of the Nation and the National Agency for the Promotion of Research Technological Development and Innovation RDi Agency.The first stage involved collaborative work between the DNPE and the ANLAP to identify the health demands of our country based on which strategic guidelines were prioritized within the Public Production of Medicines sector. The second stage consisted of putting together a call for projects by the Argentine Sectorial Fund FONARSEC of the RD Agency aimed at financing scientific and technological projects framed in the production of vaccines for strategic control diseases of medicines for rare and neglected diseases and technological modernization for scaling and adaptation to the regulations of the National Administration of Medicines Food and Medical Technology ANMAT. As a result of the call 1075793 were invested. 360 to finance 19 strategic projects. The third and final stage consists of the execution of the projects in charge of the institutions that make up the ANLAP network that benefited from the financing and strategic support of the same by the DNPE.
