π Tender Overview
Governor Doskozil/CEO Maurer: βWith the new laboratory facilities, the hospital is well equipped to continue to provide diagnostic support at the highest level.β
The modernization and expansion of the Eisenstadt Hospital of the Brothers of Mercy is progressing. With the completion of the newly adapted laboratory rooms, the first package of the "Master Planning 2030" for the Eisenstadt hospital has now been implemented. In just twelve months, the former administrative rooms were converted into a state-of-the-art laboratory. During a visit, Governor Hans Peter Doskozil was impressed by the new working environment for the biomedical analysts: "The new central laboratory is a further contribution to the positioning of the Eisenstadt Hospital as a specialist hospital in northern Burgenland. Alongside the already completed new building of the Oberwart Clinic and the construction of the Gols Clinic, for which the architectural competition is already underway, this expansion is one of the most important and effective investments in the healthcare sector. While hospitals are being closed in other federal states, we are sticking to our five-hospital guarantee and investing in the construction and expansion of Burgenland's clinics." Managing Director and Hospital Director Robert Maurer is satisfied with the latest milestone, the completion of the new central laboratory: "All work was carried out during ongoing operations. Thanks go to the employees and patients for their understanding when temporary noise disturbances and changed procedures had to be accepted." The impressive performance figures for 2023 - over two million analyses from almost 350,000 samples - underline the central role of the laboratory in hospital operations, which is now also secured for the future.
The central laboratory was fully operational in December 2024. The central laboratory will continue to be staffed around the clock and will make an indispensable contribution to diagnosis and therapy. "The new, light-flooded rooms offer us biomedical analysts a friendly working environment and optimal working conditions," said the head of the laboratory, Eva Wieser, together with her colleagues during Governor Doskozil's visit. The laboratory's board member, Mario Veitl, added: "The central laboratory is equipped with the latest analytical equipment. The newly created rooms offer ideal conditions for future-oriented planning and further development." With the new laboratory rooms, the hospital is well equipped to continue to provide diagnostic support at the highest level. The wide range of analytical areas - from hematology and clinical chemistry to microbiology and molecular biology - as well as the continuous staffing of the laboratory ensure comprehensive and high-quality patient care. With construction costs of 3.9 million euros, the project even remained below the originally estimated budget of 4.5 million euros.
βMaster Planning 2030β as part of Burgenlandβs offensive strategy in the health care system
The expansion of the central laboratory is only one part of the βMaster Plan 2030β for the Hospital of the Brothers of Mercy. With investments of around 250 million euros in the Eisenstadt hospital by 2034, the state is securing acute and emergency care in northern Burgenland and at the same time ensuring that planned complex interventions and treatments are carried out promptly and on schedule.
In addition to the central laboratory, other measures defined in the "Master Planning 2030" are already being implemented: two new computer tomographs (CT) - one for the emergency room in the emergency room and one for the cardiac catheter laboratory - as well as an additional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner will optimize diagnostic care in the future. In addition, intensive work is being carried out in Eisenstadt on the imminent use of a surgical robot in the areas of surgery, gynecology and otolaryngology (ENT). A milestone brought forward in the master planning and already implemented is the recently presented creation of a psychosomatic treatment offer in the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.
The planning phase for all other future uses, such as expanding the capacity of the intensive care area for children and premature babies in the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, expanding the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) with additional ventilation places, expanding the dialysis places, expanding the oncology day clinic or adapting the maternity ward to modern needs, is in full swing. These are to be implemented from 2026.
