On March 4 2021 Peng Jingtao the ambassador to Benin and the Minister of Health of Benin Wein Patan jointly signed the Chinese Governments medical supplies transfer certificate for Benin and the agreement of intent to establish counterpart hospitals between China and Benin. The Director of the General Office of the Ministry of Health of Benin the Secretary-General and other key officials of the Ministry of Health attended the signing ceremony.Ambassador Peng Jingtao said that the second wave of COVID-19 is raging around the world. Since the beginning of the year the anti-epidemic situation in Benin has not been optimistic. The number of confirmed and hospitalized cases has continued to increase. The Minister of Health has sounded the anti-epidemic alarm on many occasions and asked the people to strictly abide by the relevant regulations. Since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic in Benin the Chinese government and the embassy in Benin have actively implemented President Xi Jinpings initiative to jointly build a China-Africa health community and a closer China-Africa community with a shared future. They have repeatedly helped Benin through various forms of material assistance. Strengthen the building of anti-epidemic capabilities. This time the provision of medical supplies and the signing of an agreement on the establishment of a counterpart hospital cooperation mechanism fully demonstrate that China and Belgium are united in fighting the epidemic together and have a closer cooperation relationship. China will continue to provide assistance within its capacity to the Belgian side and join hands with the Belgian side to overcome the crisis.Minister Wimpathan said that today he has received material assistance from the Chinese government and people to fight the epidemic again and on behalf of President Talon and the government and people of Benin he expressed sincere gratitude to China for its kind deeds.
