π Tender Overview
Culinary and wine tourism has a huge potential. It must be included in the strategies and activities of the Tourism sector. This was said by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Food and Forestry Georgi Sabev during a meeting of the National Council for Tourism in Sliven.According to him in Bulgaria there is no valuation of the potential that has in this type of tourism. We all know how delicious Bulgarian cuisine is how good and quality Bulgarian wines are. But my impression is that they are not present at the moment they are not part of our national business card for both foreign tourists and Bulgarian tourists said Sabev. The Deputy Minister explained that Bulgarians like all other inhabitants of the world are becoming more sympathetic to the fate of small producers. They are interested in regional products. All Bulgarian regions have culinary traditions and produce quality wines. What I notice is that somehow in strategies in concepts these products are not so well represented he added.During the meeting he stressed the possibilities of European quality schemes. They can protect food and agricultural products as well as beverages wines and more. Bulgaria has such products. I have observations that the destination of the Strandzha man honey is missing in the destination Southern Black Sea coast. It is at the highest level of protection under European protected designation of origin schemes. Manna honey is a unique product that is in demand on the world market added the Deputy Minister. According to him Bulgarian wines with a protected designation of origin PDO and a protected geographical indication PGI are also absent.Deputy Minister Sabev announced that this week he has initiated a working group with experts at the Ministry of Agriculture Food and Forestry to prepare a strategy for regional products. He called on the Organizations for Management of Tourist Areas to take an active part in future consultations for collecting information on Bulgarian local products. Some of them may have been forgotten but they have great potential to attract both foreign and Bulgarian tourists Sabev added.Among the main topics raised at the meeting were the development of tourism in the conditions of COVID-19 business support measures and the capacity of Bulgaria as a tourist destination. An important focus was the stimulation of domestic tourism through the development of tourist areas.Representatives of ministries that are directly involved and involved in the development of policies in the tourism sector the organizations for the management of tourist areas and business took part.
