The Ministry of Transport and Communications will be the main coordinator of the project for the establishment of a State Aviation Operator for medical and specialized operations. At todays regular meeting the Government approved the report submitted by the Minister of Transport and Communications Nikolay Sabev.Bulgaria is the only member state of the European Union that does not currently have aircraft for medical and specialized operations. There is no national system with a coordination center for air emergency medical care. In recent years our country has lost many lives in a number of incidents. The Recovery and Sustainability Plan has made commitments to finance the purchase of helicopters for medical purposes and the establishment of an Air Emergency Medical Aid System.Experts from the Ministry of Transport and Communications the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interior will prepare a draft law amending the Civil Aviation Act which will regulate the main issues namely - the creation structure functions financing and organization of work of the new operator.The activity of providing emergency medical care by air is a transport service performed by helicopter aircraft and the provisions of Regulation EU 9652012 and the Civil Aviation Act are applicable to it.
