Burkina Faso Ecowas Tender

A high-level integrated mission from the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS will stay in Burkina Faso from March 21 to 27 2023 to assess and validate the technical humanitarian needs of the country for the year 2023.This mission is part of the implementation of the decision of paragraph 31 of the 62nd Ordinary Session of the Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS which orders the President of the ECOWAS Commission to take urgent measures to help the Burkina Faso to deal with the humanitarian crisis. This crisis is the result of massive population displacements and a drastic reduction in agricultural animal and food production in areas affected by insecurity due to attacks and threats from armed terrorist groups.As of January 31 data from the Permanent Secretariat of the National Relief and Rehabilitation Council of Burkina Faso SPCONASUR show 1938792 internally displaced persons IDPs out of 273926 households in 302 out of 365 municipalities and in the 13 regions of the country.This worrying humanitarian situation has led to an increase in needs in all areas mainly in the areas of food shelter and survival equipment education health nutrition water hygiene sanitation protection and livelihood support.It should be noted that this crisis has contributed to increasing the vulnerability of non-displaced people who are obliged in a spirit of solidarity to share their resources before the interventions of the State and humanitarian partners.To provide an appropriate and effective response to this crisis which continues to generate multiple and varied needs the Burkinabe government and its technical and financial partners are implementing a series of activities contained in a humanitarian intervention plan.The program of the ECOWAS mission composed of experts from the Directorate in charge of Humanitarian and Social Affairs and those from the Directorate of Peacekeeping and Regional Security include courtesy visits and meetings with the Minister of Solidarity Humanitarian Action National Reconciliation Gender and Family HE Nandy SomDiallo as well as local administrative authorities visits to stores and premises of the National Relief and Rehabilitation Council CONASUR .In addition the mission will also have exchanges with humanitarian actors on the humanitarian situation in the country and will carry out field visits to certain IDP sites.
