On November 12 the Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA signed grant agreements with the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Phnom Penh to provide grant aid of up to 6.248 billion yen for the following three projects.1 The Project for the Expansion of Phum Prek Water Supply System grant amount 3.361 billion yen2 The Project for the Construction of Training Complex and Outreach Facility of Cambodian Mine Action Centre grant amount 2.451 billion yen3 The Project for the Improvement of Infectious Waste Management grant amount 0.436 billion yenDetails for the projects are provided below.1 The Project for the Expansion of Phum Prek Water Supply SystemObjective and SummaryIn the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh due to the rapid increase in demand for water both domestically and commercially the water supply has become inadequate. The objective of this project is to improve water-supply services in Phnom Penh through the construction of water intake facilities the expansion of existing water treatment plants and the installation of water intake and distribution pumps thereby contributing to the improvement of the living environment of the people of Phnom Penh.
