๐Ÿ“‹ Tender Overview

During the weekly press conference of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) on Wednesday in Bangui, the spokesperson for the Mission, Florence Marchal, recalled MINUSCA's support for the extension of State authority, and more specifically for the proper functioning of judicial institutions, giving the example of the official handover, last Monday, of the new building of the Court of Appeal of Bambari in the prefecture of Ouaka.

Built and equipped by MINUSCA, the building includes a large courtroom, eight offices, a witness room and an evidence room. It was also equipped by MINUSCA with furniture, IT equipment and legal books. Thanks to this new infrastructure, the Bambari Court of Appeal will be able to resume its activities after more than a decade of interruption, thus contributing to the restoration and consolidation of the rule of law in the Central African Republic.

"The next step, expected by all, will be the organization of the first criminal session in 14 years. During the handover ceremony, the Minister of State for Justice gave instructions to this effect. He also thanked MINUSCA for this new investment in favor of Central African justice," added the spokesperson.

During this press conference, the spokesperson also addressed the issue of community mechanisms for the protection of civilians. "We have more than 80 community liaison assistants who are deployed in operational bases. These are people who work for the Mission but who are completely integrated within the communities. They are the first to be able to pass on information on the concerns of the populations. And we also have more than 132 community alert networks with 4,000 volunteers. So this network allows us to have information and to be able to improve our systems and to deploy, if necessary, temporary bases to contain the violence."

Asked about the anniversary of the resolution mandating MINUSCA and, as the International Day of Peace will be celebrated on September 21, Florence Marchal recalled that MINUSCA is present in the Central African Republic to "contribute to sustainable peace and development in support of the Central African authorities." The spokesperson spoke of concrete results on the ground: "These are lives saved every day, these are children who can go to school because the roads have been repaired. These are women who can walk in complete safety because a bridge has been rehabilitated and they are less exposed to dangers."

She concluded by saying: "If there is one word that should bring us together today, it is peace, and on the occasion of this celebration, it is action."
