📋 Tender Overview
Members of 15 groups and associations in Obo, Haut-Mbomou, or 250 beneficiaries including 130 women, assessed the impact of income-generating activities (IGAs) on the community on July 25, 2024. This initiative by the MINUSCA Civil Affairs Section aimed to evaluate previous projects in order to better prepare future projects.
These projects, implemented under the Quick Impact Projects, have affected several sectors of activity, such as the processing of local products into fruit juice and the breeding of small livestock. The projects have also enabled the supply of foufou mills, hullers and brick-making machines.
Collette Bongo, president of the Obo women's religious platform, thanks MINUSCA, because this support has enabled the members of this platform to escape from precariousness. "Thank you to MINUSCA for coming to the aid of these women to carry out income-generating activities; this will allow them to fight for their empowerment. Previously, the women (members of the platform) lived in precariousness, they had nothing to do; but thanks to this support from MINUSCA, they have become autonomous and are happy about it," she said.
This project has enabled the people of Obo to have an abundance of vegetables in the markets during the dry season this year. Jean-Louis Komborani, president of the sub-prefectural youth council and supervisor of ten agricultural groups, welcomes this support from MINUSCA for young people. "This support has helped us a lot in the sense that, in the community, if you see this year in the dry season, vegetables are abundant in the markets and at an affordable price, while the previous year, it was difficult to find them in the markets," he said.
For Ousmane ABDOU, MINUSCA Civil Affairs Officer, these activities carried out within the framework of the Quick Impact Projects were intended to bring a positive impact to the communities. "We supported OFCA, the religious platform, as well as the various associations and groups of young people and women. We supported the youth with brick production machines and also helped with seeds as well as in small businesses. We therefore want to discuss with them to find out what types of support they want, what types of action MINUSCA should take to strengthen the empowerment of women, but also of young people," he said.
This assessment is also an opportunity for women, men and young people to come together to share achievements, experiences and challenges. It is also a time for MINUSCA to analyse and identify concrete projects that can improve the well-being of populations and build lasting peace in the region.
