ORANJESTAD -- Within the framework of Learning Cities Aruba the Ministry of Education organized a congress on October 5 in collaboration with EPI OABA EPB and SPO to better align vocational education with the local labor market and expand internship opportunities for Aruban students.This gathering represents a joint effort to foster greater cooperation and structural alignment among the institutes offering vocational training on Aruba. These include: Scol Practico Educativo (SPO) for practical vocational training Educacion Profesional Intermedio (EPI) for intermediate vocational education (mbo) Educacion Profesional Basico (EPB) for basic vocational education and the Organisacion pa Avance di Bario y Aprendisahe (OABA) for neighborhood development and education.Aligning education with our countrys needsThe primary objective of the meeting was to discuss and exchange concrete ideas on how the content of educational programs can be better tailored to the needs of our labor market. Through this dialogue we aim to ensure that students acquire the knowledge and skills demanded by todays workforce.Additionally special attention was given during the meeting to the role of internships. Internships are considered the fundamental bridge between the classroom and the professional world offering students the opportunity to gain practical experience and make a smoother more successful transition into the job market.Commitment to the future of youthDuring the session Minister of Education Gerlien Croes emphasized the value of this close collaboration between the education sector and the business community: We must ensure that our youth are well-prepared for the realities and needs of our labor market.
