📋 Tender Overview
EIB
Impress is a leading invisible orthodontics and HealthTech company operating across 9 European markets.
The EIB loan will drive the development of Impress’s artificial intelligence (AI) platform and accelerate the company’s expansion plans across Northern European markets.
Backed by InvestEU, this venture debt financing supports the EIB’s strategic priority to boost technological innovation and digitalization in Europe.
The European Investment Bank (EIB), part of the European Investment Bank Group (EIB Group), has signed a €40 million venture debt loan with Impress, a leading digital orthodontics network in Europe which operates over 110 clinics worldwide.
The EIB financing will enable Impress to scale up investments in AI and strengthen its proprietary technology platform for the diagnosis and treatment of clear aligner patients. The loan will also accelerate the company’s expansion plans across Northern Europe.
The project features a strong technological focus, allowing Impress to reinforce its comprehensive, AI-driven healthcare ecosystem. This ecosystem seamlessly integrates patient scanning, treatment planning, and continuous monitoring. The solution spans from in-clinic 3D intraoral scans -delivering more accurate tooth-movement predictions than traditional molds - to AI-assisted treatment planning to ongoing patient tracking via Impress’s proprietary mobile app. Following its consolidation in Southern Europe, the company’s next growth phase will target the north of the continent, focusing on strategic markets including Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
“The digital transformation of the healthcare sector offers significant opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of services provided to citizens. This operation reflects the EIB’s commitment to supporting innovative European growth companies like Impress that leverage AI to build cutting-edge solutions and expand their footprint across Europe, reinforcing EU leadership in HealthTech innovation,” stated María Romano, Head of the EIB Group Office in Spain.
“For years, patients have had to choose between expensive orthodontics with constant clinic visits, or at-home solutions without adequate medical follow-up. At Impress, we were born to close that gap. Our technology features an artificial intelligence engine powered by a global database of 500,000 patients, which allows us to multiply the efficiency of our clinics ten times, reduce in-person visits by 80%, and make quality medical care more accessible. The backing of the EIB represents a seal of guarantee in the HealthTech companies’ ecosystem in Europe, confirms our vision, and places us in an advantageous position to consolidate our model in Europe” said Vladimir Lupenko, Co-founder and CEO of Impress.
The financing agreement supports the EIB’s strategic priority of fostering technological innovation and digitalization, one of the eight core priorities outlined in the EIB Group’s Strategic Roadmap for 2024–2027. Specifically the project advances the Group’s initiatives in HealthTech, where it serves as a European benchmark. It also contributes to TechEU, the EIB Group program aimed at accelerating EU innovation, which seeks to mobilize €250 billion in investments by 2027 for startups, scaleups, and innovative companies across Europe. The EIB loan is guaranteed by InvestEU, the European Union’s flagship program designed to mobilize public and private investment in support of EU policy goals.
