The Study Center for National Reconciliation is a public institution established in 2008 by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia and under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice. Its purpose is to study the violations of human rights caused by totalitarian regimes in Slovenia in the 20th century, thereby creating a basis for the correction of injustices and national reconciliation. For this purpose, it collects and edits archival material and testimonies of victims, participates in the regulation of the issue of hidden graves, and at the same time, in its work, connects with both educational institutions and international partners with a similar mission.
At the meeting, the minister emphasized that learning the historical truth about human rights violations during totalitarian regimes is the basis for respecting the victims, nurturing national reconciliation and strengthening trust in the rule of law, and that this type of scientific research significantly contributes to understanding the past and building a mature democratic society.
