Estonia Cross Cutting Tender

πŸ“„ Tender ID: 506328523 πŸ“… Published: 19 Jul 2024

πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

In 2023, a cross-sectoral action plan to promote mobility was completed, which will help to make improving mobility habits part of as many policies and areas of life as possible. As of today, the action plan can also be found online.

"Regular exercise and physical activity is one of the most important factors affecting health. An athletic and active lifestyle makes you feel good, increases working capacity, reduces the risk of diseases and maintains mental health. In promoting the movement of Estonians with one-off and one-sided activities, it will not achieve much positive change. It is important to act consistently across disciplines – regularly acknowledging the importance of movement and taking into account the importance of different policies. This was also the goal of drawing up the action plan," said Tarvi PΓΌrn, Undersecretary for Sport at the Ministry of Culture.

According to the fundamentals of sport 2030, the basic document of Estonian sports policy, the vast majority, or at least two-thirds of the population, will move and play sports by 2030. In order to reach the goal faster, in autumn 2022, cross-sectoral cooperation in promoting mobility activity was established. According to the agreement of the Minister of Culture, Social Affairs, Education and Research, the Ministry of Culture took the lead in preparing the action plan for promoting physical activity.

The action plan to promote mobility brought together pilot projects, campaigns, studies in various fields, as well as, for example, potential changes related to the judicial area. The action plan is rolling, which means that it is reviewed and supplemented annually. At the moment, activities are planned for 2024-2027, among which there are both initiatives that are limited in a specific time frame and continuous activities.

The web version of the action plan can be found on the website of the Competence Centre for Exercise.

In addition to the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Research, representatives from the Competence Centre for Exercise, the National Institute for Health Development, the Health Insurance Fund, universities and other educational institutions, local governments and elsewhere have provided important input to the plan.
