π Tender Overview
On December 15 the government decided to allocate nearly 800000 euros of support from the Cohesion Fund for the connection of private water and sewage pipelines to the public water supply and sewage network. The Center for Environmental Investments KIK will open the application round during the month of January. As a result of the investments made in the last few decades 84 of the population in Estonia is connected to public water supply and 82 to public sewerage. According to Environment Minister Madis Kallas local communities continue to expect that the state will find ways to further support the sector. Thanks to the support of water management 9300 people across Estonia have received high-quality drinking water and 13000 people with a proper sewage system said Madis Kallas. The interest in support has been great over the years. Clean tap water and proper sewerage are one of the prerequisites for people to cope better and every new household connected to sewerage also reduces the risks to the environment.Kai Eisenberg KIKs area manager for biodiversity and climate said that it is estimated that around 300 more applications can be accepted in the opening round in January . Here it is important to mention that applicants must have the opportunity to cover their deductible. The works may not be started before receiving the funding decision and the planned activities must then be implemented within six months. Unfortunately we cannot support those households who after the end of the first round of applications did the construction work with their own funds he added.Subsidy is given for connecting a residence to a public water supply andor sewerage system or for the construction or reconstruction of a collection tank in wastewater collection areas and for the construction or reconstruction of a sewage treatment plant for a residence in a wastewater collection area with less than 2000 consumers. The subsidy is paid on the basis of a standardized unit price the subsidy amounts are listed on the KIK website. KIK announces the opening of the application round in January on its website and in national newspapers.
