π Tender Overview
On Monday, October 6, twelve MBO-3 students from the Koning Willem I College in Den Bosch received their Rail Transport Operator diploma. This is the first group to complete the training at this vocational institution in Den Bosch. Since 2023, the training has also been available in the south of the country. The influx of young people is important for a good age structure within NS. However, until 2023, there was no training in the south of the country for MBO students who wanted to become a train driver. Koning Willem I College is the third MBO educational institution where NS has started collaboration for train driver training, in addition to ROC Amsterdam, ROC Twente and STC in Rotterdam. The training is a specialist MBO course and is provided by experienced NS train drivers. Of the fifteen starting students, twelve succeeded and one continued their training elsewhere.
Flame ignitedPelle is one of the successful students who received his diploma on Monday. I did another course for this and I always went to school by train. And every time I saw that train, I thought: I think it would be great to study it myself. That ignited the flame.

Director of Learning, Recruitment and Career Mascha van der Heijden: Our trainers, mentor drivers and team managers have been extremely important for the development of these MBO students. Thanks to their knowledge and personal guidance, the new drivers can board the train with confidence. Their efforts are of great value to the success of this training.
