π Tender Overview
According To Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, Taking Over The Tactical Command Of The Estonian And Latvian Ground Forces By The German-Dutch Corps Is An Important Step In Strengthening The Defense Of NatoS Eastern Wing And The Security Of Estonia. The Takeover Of The Tactical Command Of The Estonian And Latvian Ground Forces By The 1St German-Dutch Corps (1Gnc) Is Part Of NatoS New Force Model, Which Aims To Ensure A Faster Response And More Effective Combat Readiness Of Allied Forces On NatoS Eastern Flank, Said Tsahkna. With This Step, The Alliance Shows That The Deterrence And Defense Posture Is Being Adapted To The Changed Security Environment. At The Same Time, The Decision Sends A Signal Of The Readiness Of The European Allies To Take A Greater Role And Responsibility In Securing The Common Security Of The Alliance. The New Management Arrangement Will Take Effect Tomorrow. The Focus Of NatoS Northeast Corps, Which Has Been Responsible For The Tactical Management Of Estonian And Latvian Ground Forces, Will Now Be Directed To Poland And Lithuania. A Full Combat-Capable Corps Usually Consists Of About 40,000 To 60,000 Troops, Divided Between Up To Three Divisions. 1 The German-Dutch Corps Takes Over The Main Responsibility In Nato For The Defense Solution Of Estonia And Latvia, Which Means That The Tasks Of The Corps Include, Among Other Things, Conducting Exercises, Preparing For Defense And, If Necessary, Defense Activities. Estonia, Germany And The Netherlands Are United By A Common Understanding Of European Security Threats And The Need To Strengthen NatoS Deterrence And Defense. We Have A Long-Term And Meaningful Defense Cooperation With Both Countries - From Baltic Air Security To Joint Exercises And Activities In The Baltic Sea Region. Therefore, The Management Of EstoniaS And LatviaS Defense Solution Will Be Taken Over By Allies With Whom We Have Strong Cooperation Experience And A Common Understanding Of The Importance Of Collective Defense, Said Tsahkna.
