The first vice-president of the assembly of French Polynesia Mrs. Sylvana PUHETINI participated in the inauguration of the Salon des Marquesas which took place at the Mamao expo park in the presence of Mr. douard FRITCH President of French Polynesia Mr. Yvonnick RAFFIN Minister of Finance and the Economy Mr. Heremoana MAAMAATUAIAHUTAPU Minister of Culture in charge of Crafts Mrs. Christelle LEHARTEL Minister of Education Ms. Virginie BRUANT Minister of Labor Mr. Eugne SOMMERS President of the Economic Social Environmental and Cultural Council CESEC Ms. Vaiana GIRAUD Head of the Crafts Department Ms. Lowna HATITIO Representative of the Mayor of Papeete and Mr. Philippe LACOMBE Vice-Rector of French Polynesia.The personalities and the many guests present were welcomed by a traditional Marquesan welcoming song the mave. After the official speech given by the President of the Country Mr. douard FRITCH the officials had the opportunity to visit the many stands at the show and discover the unique and original creations of the exhibitors.Organized by the Te Tuhuka o te henua enana federation chaired by Mr. Marc BARSINAS this event has become an unmissable event in the cultural calendar of the country since it brings together 88 craftsmen and artists from the islands of the Marquesan archipelago spread on about sixty stands.Throughout the exhibition the public will be able to attend several demonstrations including the creation of bouquets of love or kumu hei demonstrations of sculpture on stone on bone on wood the realization of painting on tapa culinary art demonstrations and tastings.Finally Ms. PUHETINI said she was proud to see such enthusiasm for the Salon des Marquesas which she herself is from every year. She made a point of congratulating the president of the federation for the organization of this event which will allow visitors to discover an overview of all the richness of this archipelago.The show is open to the public every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. until it closes on Sunday June 12.
