πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

Today, The Government Approved The Draft Amendment To The Law On The Taurage Polygon Prepared By The Ministry Of National Defense (Kam) And Its Submission To The Seimas. It Envisages Increasing The Territory Of The Polygon By 2,334 Hectares, Expanding It Into The Territory Of The Jurbarkas District Municipality, Exclusively On State Land. The Planned Area Does Not Include Any Private Plots. When Planning The Installation Of Buildings And Infrastructure On The Territory Of The Landfill, The Authorities Responsible For The Protected Areas Would Be Consulted, If Necessary. The Changes Were Prepared Taking Into Account The Changed Security Situation In The Region And The Growing Training Needs Of The Lithuanian Army And Nato Allies. The Decision To Expand The Training Areas Of The Army Is Important Both For National Security And For The Strengthening Of The Regions. The Lithuanian Army Must Train Continuously In Order To Maintain A High Level Of Readiness. The Currently Available Training Areas Are Not Enough To Meet The Needs Of The Lithuanian Army And The Allies Here, Therefore By Expanding The Taurage Training Range To The Municipality Of Jurbarkas District, We Ensure Better Training Conditions For Our Soldiers, Said Minister Robertas Kaunas. The Submitted Draft Law Was Revised Based On Comments And Suggestions Submitted By Institutions And Interested Persons. The Ministry Of National Defense Organized Meetings With The Management Of The Jurbarkas District Municipality And The Community Of Viesviles. They Answered The Questions Relevant To Local Residents Regarding The Activities Of The Range, Its Influence On Everyday Life, The Procedure For Visiting The Territory Of The Range And Hunting, Etc. Plans For The MunicipalityS Close Cooperation With The Ministry Of National Defense And Anticipated Funding For Joint Projects Were Also Presented To The Viesvile Community. In The Territory Of The Municipality Of Taurage District, The Boundaries Of The Polygon Will Not Change, Nor Will The Purpose Of The Polygon, Which Is Enshrined In The Law, Be Changed. Only Maneuvering And Tactical Movement Exercises Of Military Equipment Will Continue To Take Place At The Training Ground, And Weapons And Military Equipment Will Be Used Only With Simulated Means. The Planned Development Area Includes Protected Natural And Cultural Heritage Sites - The Kaskalnis Geomorphological Reserve And A Section Of The Border Of The Grand Duchy Of Lithuania Established By The Treaty Of Melno. Therefore, While Protecting These Values, Military Activities Will Be Carried Out In Compliance With Strict Environmental And Cultural Heritage Protection Requirements. The Development Of The Landfill Will Also Bring Direct Benefits To The Local Community, As Cooperation With The Municipalities Where Landfills Operate Or Will Be Established Is Being Strengthened, Including The Municipality Of Jurbarkas District, In Whose Territory The Taurage Landfill Is Being Expanded. A Portion Of The Defense Budget Will Be Allocated For This. The Benefit Package Will Be Directed To The Development Of Social And Engineering Infrastructure, Investment Attraction, Strengthening Of Municipalities, Resilience, Civil Protection, Preparedness, As Well As The Health Care Sector. The Seimas Will Make The Final Decision On The Development Of The Polygon In The Territory Of The Jurbarkas District Municipality This Spring.
