π Tender Overview
The Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) of the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported that the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is still occurring, the last eruption occurred at 07:16 WITA with an observed ash column height of +- 1,000 m above the peak (+- 2,584 m above sea level). The ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity leaning towards the west and northwest. This eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 29.6 mm and a duration of +- 1 minute 46 seconds.
"The eruption accompanied by the ejection of hot lava and hot clouds to the west, northwest of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki is still occurring. PVMBG plans to expand the safe zone in the Southwest - Northwest direction from the previous 8 km to 9 km," said Head of the Geological Agency Muhammad Wafid in Bandung, Saturday (9/11).
Seeing the volcanic activity of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki which is still high, the Head of the Geological Agency asked the public to remain calm and follow the direction of the Regional Government and not believe issues that are not clear from the source. "Do not do any activity within a radius of 7 km from the center of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki, as well as a sector of 8 km in the Southwest - Northwest direction," appealed Wafid.
Wafid also reminded, in addition to being aware of the potential for rain-induced lava floods in rivers that originate at the peak of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki if there is heavy rain, the public is also asked to wear masks/nose-mouth covers to avoid the dangers of volcanic ash on the respiratory system.
PVMBG will continue to monitor the activities of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki and always coordinate with the BPBD of East Nusa Tenggara Province and the local Satlak PB in providing information about the activities of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki.
