The project aims to improve access to safe and sustainable drinking water to the people living on Kiritimati Island.The remote islands of the Line Islands Group which comprise fragile atoll ecosystems vulnerable to climate change are expected to undergo significant population increase particularly on Kiritimati Christmas Island with the release of 2370 new leases as per national development and internal migration plans.As part of the EU-Kiribati Partnership for a sustainable and inclusive socio-economic development this action aims to improve the use of services and goods provided by the public sector in relation to water and sanitation on Kiritimati Island. The intervention focuses onImproving evidence-based management of water resourcesIncreasing access to safe and reliable drinking water supply andStrengthening capacity to operate maintain and manage safe efficient and accountable water supply systems at the institutional community and household levels.
