๐Ÿ“‹ Tender Overview

On the occasion of the electric sessions organized by Klima-Agence as part of the Klimapakt fir Betriber, the Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, announced the launch of two new calls for projects intended to support the energy transition of companies in the field of heavy vehicles. This announcement is a continuation of two previous calls for projects, of which he also took stock. One was dedicated to charging infrastructure for heavy vehicles, the other to the acquisition of zero-emission heavy road vehicles. Lex Delles underlined: The strong participation in these calls for projects demonstrates the effective commitment of a multiplicity of actors from numerous sectors, including transport, logistics and Luxembourg industry, in favor of decarbonization and strengthening our resilience in the face of external energy shocks. To amplify this dynamic, we have decided to launch two new calls for projects: one for heavy vehicle charging infrastructures, and the other for trucks equipped with clean propulsion technologies. Launch of two new calls for projects for heavy vehicle charging infrastructures and clean technology trucks Indeed, two new calls for projects will be open from July 20, 2026 to September 18, 2026. On the one hand, a call for projects relating to zero-emission heavy road vehicles, with an envelope of 10,000,000 euros, divided into three lots, will be launched: Lot 1: category N2 trucks, with a maximum authorized mass (MMA) greater than 3.5 tonnes and less than or equal to 12 tonnes; Lot 2: category N3 trucks, with an MMA greater than 12 tonnes and less than or equal to 28 tonnes; Lot 3: category N3 trucks, with an MMA greater than 28 tonnes. This distribution into three lots, and more particularly the subdivision of category N3, is based on the lessons learned from the first call for projects, which highlighted support needs which vary according to the tonnage of the vehicles. Furthermore, a new call for projects dedicated to private charging infrastructures, intended for trucks in categories N2 and N3, will be launched. With a budget of 4,000,000 euros, it will exclusively target the deployment of charging infrastructure within companies in order to support them in their transition to zero-emission trucks. In a next step, by the end of the year, an additional call for projects will be launched to support the deployment of large publicly accessible charging parks dedicated to heavy-duty electric vehicles along the main motorway routes with the aim of contributing to the establishment of a European rapid charging network allowing electric trucks to circulate efficiently throughout Europe. Finally, beyond this progress targeting trucks, a next call for projects is planned for early 2027 for all types of charging infrastructure, aiming to strengthen the Luxembourg charging network more generally for all types of vehicles. Summary of the two previous calls for projects to support investments in charging infrastructure for heavy vehicles and the acquisition of zero-emission heavy vehicles Following the seventh call for projects granting financial aid to companies investing in charging infrastructure projects dedicated to heavy vehicles, 16 projects out of the 21 applications received for the installation of charging infrastructure were selected. These projects correspond to a cumulative capacity of 18,120 kW. The budget allocated to the call, amounting to 5,000,000 euros, was entirely used, which demonstrates the interest of companies in supporting the electrification of heavy vehicles. At the same time, the first call for projects dedicated to the acquisition of zero-emission category N2 and N3 heavy vehicles was finalized with the aim of supporting companies in their approach to electrification of their fleet. The selected projects cover a diversity of economic players and demonstrate the sectors commitment to sustainable mobility. 23 projects out of the 37 applications received were selected, corresponding to 56 vehicles, for a public subsidy representing a total amount of aid of 5,151,941.31 euros. The results of these two calls, which have just been closed, demonstrate the growing commitment of economic players to the decarbonization of heavy transport and confirm the marked interest of companies in these support measures.
