π Tender Overview
More and more manufacturing businesses in the North are investing in rooftop solar power not only to reduce electricity bills. Facing the increasing demands of international customers for renewable energy, emission reduction and sustainable development, factory rooftop power is gradually becoming a part of the strategy to improve competitiveness. Talking with a reporter from the Government Electronic Newspaper, Mr. Pham Xuan Gioi, Electrical Manager of the Company said that the enterprise specializes in producing textile fibers to serve the domestic and export markets, on a large scale. more than 2,000 workers. The rooftop solar power system has a capacity of nearly 20 MW, with a total investment of about 150 billion VND. Before installing the system, the businesss electricity costs ranged from 40-60 billion VND per month. When put into operation, solar power supplies about 8-10% of total electricity demand, helping businesses save an average of 5-6 billion VND per month. In months with favorable weather, the savings can reach 6-7 billion VND. Because the factory operates continuously in three shifts, almost all the electricity produced from the system is used directly, without generating a significant amount of surplus electricity. This is a favorable condition for businesses to effectively exploit on-site power sources without needing to invest in batteries just for the purpose of storing solar power. However, the Company is inviting specialized units to evaluate the possibility of investing in a battery energy storage system. The option that businesses are interested in is not only to store solar power, but also to charge the battery during off-peak hours for use during peak hours to reduce electricity purchase costs. Along with investing in solar power, businesses have converted many large-capacity engines from direct starting to using inverters, helping to adjust capacity according to operating needs. About 70% of the fluorescent lighting systems in the factory have also been replaced with LED lights. In DEEP C Industrial Park, Hai Phong, rooftop solar power is also being expanded on both projects owned by investors and factories of enterprises renting land. Mr. Dao Van Thuan, representative of DEEP Cs electricity management department, said that the investor has put into operation more than 5 MW in three areas. In particular, the system at DEEP C 1 has a capacity of more than 2 MW; DEEP C 2 has nearly 2 MW and the FI warehouse has a capacity of more than 1 MW. Including businesses in the industrial park, the total capacity put into operation is estimated at about 21 MW. DEEP C aims to increase the scale of rooftop solar power in the entire area to about 64 MW by 2027. Currently, about eight large enterprises have invested or registered to deploy, some projects are divided into several phases lasting until 2030. The enterprise still has about 1.5 MW of roof area that can be installed in the next phase. On hot days, the system can reach a peak capacity of more than 9 MW, equivalent to about 80-85% of the design capacity and meet about one-third of the plants immediate electricity demand, which ranges from 30-35 MW. Electricity output changes clearly according to weather conditions. On a sunny day, the system can produce about 50,000 kWh; On less favorable days, it reaches about 35,000-40,000 kWh. In winter, output drops to about 10,000-20,000 kWh/day. In addition to investing in solar power, the factory also deploys a system to recover residual heat from the production furnace to generate electricity, provide steam and serve the internal cooling system. This system operates continuously with a capacity of about 5 MW, generating an average of about 90,000 kWh of electricity per day. Combining solar power with residual heat generation helps businesses significantly reduce the amount of electricity they have to buy from the grid, while improving energy efficiency in the entire production process. Not just a problem with electricity bills. At Hai Ha Industrial Park, a rooftop solar power system with a capacity of 250 kW has been put into operation at the factory. of Ngan Ha Engineering Technology Company Limited. Four other businesses in the industrial park have expressed investment needs and the projects are entering the design phase. Some new factories are also expected to integrate solar power systems right from construction. Businesses are considering two options. One is to invest and operate the system yourself. Second, the industrial park infrastructure investor invests capital, operates and supplies electricity to the factories. However, the mechanism for distributing benefits, revenue and responsibilities between the parties still needs to continue to be negotiated. Thanks to that, businesses can save 5.6-6.3 billion VND in electricity bills each month. Even though it has rooftop solar power, every month the company still has to spend 75-84 billion VND to buy electricity from the grid to meet production needs, Mr. Cuong said. Therefore, the business is planning to install more rooftop solar power in the remaining factories. But saving costs is not the only motivation. Mos
