The year 2024 ends with 19,532 job seekers and 5,935 vacancies.
The number of available resident job seekers registered with ADEM stands at 19,532 as of December 31, 2024, an increase of 1,334 people (or 7.3%) compared to December 2023.
This increase concerns in particular job seekers registered for 7 months or more, job seekers over 30 years old, as well as the most qualified job seekers (teaching graduates).
In terms of occupations, the most significant increases concern the occupations of road transport driving (category ROME N41), accounting (category M12), culinary production (G16), IT (M18), and banking (C12).
The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations, calculated by STATEC, remains stable at 5.9%.
The number of new registrations of job seekers is increasing slightly. Indeed, 2,328 residents registered with ADEM during the month of December 2024, an increase of 50 people or 2.2% compared to December 2023. Note that the new registrations this month include 62 registrations of beneficiaries of temporary protection (refugees from Ukraine).
The number of resident job seekers receiving full unemployment benefit increased by 917 people or 9.3% over one year, to reach 10,737 as of December 31. The number of beneficiaries of a measure in favor of employment stands at 4,111, stable compared to December 2023.
During the month of December 2024, employers declared 2,385 vacancies to ADEM, which corresponds to a decrease of 7.1% compared to December 2023. The total number of positions available at the end of the month stands at 5,935 as of December 31, 2024. The decline over one year is 15.2%. This decrease (in new positions declared and in stock at the end of the month) mainly impacts the accounting professions (ROME category M12) and the building finishing work (category F16).
