President Shavkat Mirziyoev got acquainted with the work being carried out on the construction of freight cars at the enterprises of the joint-stock company Uzbekistan Railways and the presentation of plans for the coming years.
Modernization of transport infrastructure in our country, expansion of export potential and provision of economic sectors with continuous logistics services are one of the priorities of the state policy.
Large-scale modernization processes are underway in railway transport. They serve to radically modernize the industry, expand production capacity, and gradually update the wagon fleet.
In particular, in 2023-2025, 1,590 semi-open freight cars were produced within the framework of the project worth 105 million dollars. This makes it possible to increase the turnover of goods in domestic and international transportation, to ensure the stability of logistics chains.
Also, in the new phase of 150 million dollars for 2025-2026, the construction of freight and passenger wagons is being carried out, as well as the modernization of wagon production enterprises within JSC Uzbekistan Railways. Within the framework of the project, the construction of 954 freight cars and 70 passenger cars has started.
To date, 45 passenger cars and 340 tankers have been produced within the framework of this project. By the end of this year, an additional 614 units of cargo and 25 units of passenger cars will be produced.
Recently, the President signed a separate decision to sharply increase the volume of production of freight cars in the coming years. According to the document, an additional 100 million dollars will be allocated and 1,350 freight cars will be delivered. For this, the task of increasing the capacities of industrial enterprises by 1.5 times and producing 2,000 freight wagons was set this year.
The head of our state gave relevant tasks to the officials in connection with updating the wagon fleet, increasing the transport volume and optimizing the expenses.
