The Minister of Transportation and Public Works, Lucía Etcheverry, and the national director of Transportation, Felipe Martín, participated in the signing of an agreement between Banco República (BROU), the Tourist Transport Union of Uruguay (UTTU) and the Center of Tourist Vehicle Owners (CEPROTUR); an initiative that seeks to strengthen tourist transportation through new financing tools for companies in the sector.
Present at the activity were the president of Banco República, Álvaro García; the general manager of the institution, Mariela Espino; authorities from UTTU and CEPROTUR, as well as representatives from different organizations and institutions.
The agreement will facilitate access to better financial assistance conditions for the companies that make up UTTU and CEPROTUR, favoring the renewal and acquisition of a fleet of buses, microbuses, minibuses and vans intended for the land transportation of passengers for tourism, tours and excursions. In this way, investment in more modern, safe and efficient units is promoted, contributing to raising the quality of the service that users receive.
The initiative is part of the joint work between public institutions and representative organizations of the tourism and transport sector, with the aim of promoting the professionalization of the activity, strengthening the competitiveness of companies and accompanying the growth of national and international tourism.
CEPROTUR is a non-profit civil association that brings together more than 200 companies that own buses, microbuses, minibuses and vans dedicated to the land transportation of passengers for tourist groups, tours and excursions, both nationally and internationally. Among its main objectives are the defense of the interests of its members, the management of benefits for the sector and the support for its development through accounting, notarial and legal advice, as well as negotiations with public organizations.
With this agreement, investment and renewal of the fleet is strengthened to improve an essential service for tourist activity and contribute to more modern, safe, efficient and competitive tourist transportation throughout the country.
