π Tender Overview
A mysterious booklet, a former conductor and two bickering students: in the fictional NS podcast 'Het spoor bijster', Naomi Bijster and fellow student Olaf go on an adventure through the Netherlands by train. With clues from a found booklet, they crisscross the entire country in search of treasure. The podcast is specially made for young people between the ages of 12-18. The common thread of the six episodes is making contact, even if that is extra difficult due to dementia, for example. After listening to 'Lost track', no one carelessly walks on, for example, Utrecht Central Station or Groningen.
Train travel is ideal for listening to podcasts. Whether you're in a Sprinter for ten minutes or an hour in an Intercity, there's always a podcast to keep you entertained on the go. Insert earphones and go. There is also another side to this, as the podcast shows: of course, nothing beats real human contact. In particular, Het spoor verster focuses on making contact with people with dementia. Although it is often difficult to understand what is going on, the main characters in the story show that it is indeed possible to make contact with someone with dementia. In fact, the young generation is sucked into the warm memories and loving relationship of a man with dementia and his partner.
NS was one of the first organisations in the Netherlands to create a narrative podcast with its own company as a backdrop. Our trains and stations are a natural stage for special encounters, forgotten mysteries and recovered memories. For NS, the podcast is an experiment, a new way to show how fun and adventurous travelling by train can be.
With 'Lost the Railway', NS focuses on young people aged 12-18. For the first time, this age group is going out on their own to discover the world, with the train as a logical means of transport. With the Youth Day Ticket (β¬ 7.95), among other things, we make train travel attractive for teenagers. In addition, this age group is once again embracing the power of stories, the young-adult books are in short supply, and their interest in podcasts is increasing.
For this new way, we also teamed up with a new maker: screenwriter Janna Grosfeld graduated from the Film Academy in Amsterdam only in 2021. The voices are of professional actors as well as amateurs and NS employees. Listen to the podcast starting today on Spotify or iTunes.
