πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

Work on the platforms at Schiphol Airport station as part of the Multimodal Node Schiphol MKS project has started. This MKS project consists of five different sub-projects including the renovation of the ascent and descent points at Schiphol Airport station. It aims to keep Schiphol comfortable safe and well-organized in the future. From Sunday evening 8 January contractor BAM Infra started to remove the first lift and escalator-stair combination. The lifts on the platforms which lead to the Schiphol Plaza above will be renewed so that they remain reliable in the future. From 16 January all lifts at the station will be out of use. During the works passengers can use the fixed stairs escalators and the roller conveyors. Train passengers with a physical disability travelling to and from Schiphol can apply for NS Travel Assistance if necessary. The work is far-reaching for Schiphol. We immediately hit the Schiphol Plaza above says Rien Nederveen mks project manager. It is also drastic for the traveler that the lifts will be out of use for the next three months. Everything we carry out now helps the other MKS sub-projects. If the stairs and lifts have been adjusted this year the renovation of Plaza and the bus station will continue. It is an art to connect everything well together in the future. In the preparation we have done a lot of work together with Schiphol and our contractor BAM Infra we look forward to a further good execution. The work is far-reaching. We immediately hit the Schiphol Plaza above.Rien continues These adjustments will improve passenger traffic flow. We are working together with another ProRail project namely Major Maintenance Schiphol. We are piggybacking on the train-free periods of this project. We expect to limit the inconvenience for passengers by working together. This project is working on preparing the rail infrastructure of the Schiphol tunnel for the next 40 years. In this way both projects reinforce each other.Normally work is planned as much as possible during holiday periods. But at Schiphol Airport these are the busiest times of the year. The large-scale renovation work on the Schiphol railway tunnel and the Multimodal Node Schiphol project will therefore only be carried out in the first three and last three months of the year. With this we plan as much as possible outside the holidays so that the airport remains accessible to travelers as much as possible. Both projects will therefore only continue with the next part of the work around the beginning of October.
