The runway will be available again for regular air traffic from Saturday 1 July 2023.Deputy Stephan Satijn Economy and Finance of the Province of LimburgToday not only the go-ahead has been given for the commissioning of the renovated runway. Today also marks the start of MAAs transition to a future-proof sustainable and environment-conscious airport. The landing of the electrically powered aircraft is also a symbol of this. I wish MAA the best of luckFor the necessary renovation of the runway the Provincial Council granted the airport a loan in June 2022. In December 2022 the Provincial Council approved the cooperation with the Royal Schiphol Group and thus the entry of Schiphol as a shareholder of the airport. To this end the transaction documents were signed by the Province of Limburg and the Royal Schiphol Group on 8 June 2023.The collaboration between Schiphol and MAA contributes to the further development and sustainability of the airport. Innovation and electric flying are the spearheads in the development which also contributes to reducing the impact on the living environment. The collaboration between Schiphol and MAA also focuses on cargo handling and innovations in this area. MAA is the second and only regional cargo airport in the Netherlands and therefore also makes an important national economic contribution.
