As a test in the future NS will watch live in trains where the number of nuisance reports suddenly increases. The immediate reason is a number of recent incidents with sexually transgressive behavior on the train around Hoorn. Last week the police arrested a suspect who has since confessed. In such cases NS will in future - on the specific route - set up preventive camera surveillance in the train and watch live. Previously cameras in the train were only used after an incident to track down the perpetrator which contributed to the arrest of the suspect in Hoorn.NS imposes a public transport ban on perpetrators of sexually transgressive behavior - in whatever form. As a result they are no longer welcome on the train or at the station. Finally NS will also draw more attention to the Whatsapp Alert in the train. We do this by applying stickers of the whatsapp number on the train. Travelers can report an undesirable situation on the train via whatsapp number 06 13 18 13 18 after which the control room can take action for example by notifying the conductor security personnel or the police. This number can now also be used via the NS Travel Planner app.Traveling by train should be pleasant for everyone and it usually is. At the same time everyone who experiences this will hesitate the next time they travel by train. People who cant leave their hands at home need to know theyre seen theyre caught and they wont get on the train again.Preventive monitoring is a test and is now only possible in the sprinters of the SNG type. This will soon also be possible in the new Intercity trains purchased by NS. NS currently has 6500 surveillance cameras at the stations and 3500 in the trains.
