A delegation from the Executive, headed by the head of the Ministerial Cabinet, Gustavo Adrianzen, and the Minister of Energy and Mines, Romulo Mucho, made a technical working visit to the New Talara Refinery, located in the Piura region, in order to review its current operation and functioning in the production of clean fuels with low sulfur content.
The delegation, which also included the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Jose Arista; the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Iris Cardenas, and the general manager of the state-owned company Petroperu, Cristina Fung, supervised the main control room of the refinery, where they viewed the production process in a critical area that is expected to dispatch more than half a million barrels of diesel by the end of the month.
During this technical visit, the head of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) reported that the members of the Board of Directors of Petroperu are expected to be appointed next week.
I hope that next week, we will have the appointment of each of the members of the Board of Directors of Petroperu. It is a delicate stage for the state-owned company and the best professionals we can find in the market are required to lead it, said the Prime Minister from Talara.
Later, the authorities toured the main laboratory of the New Talara Refinery, which operates with cutting-edge technology and automated equipment, which consolidates it as the best equipped laboratory in the country in the hydrocarbon industry.
Nestor Herrera, chief engineer of the laboratory, said that this facility ensures that the products produced in the Refinery meet the specifications required to meet national demand and supply fuel to the stations located in all regions of the country.
It should be noted that this laboratory has ISO 17023 certification and is accredited by the National Institute of Quality (INACAL) for its high competitiveness, which puts it at the forefront in the country and on par with more than 500 laboratories in the world, in terms of technical competence and equipment.
The head of the deep conversion complex of the flexicoking unit, engineer Gaspar Diaz, pointed out that in this area the heaviest hydrocarbons are processed to obtain higher value products such as gasoline, diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
