📋 Tender Overview
In the following years, the flow of visitors to the Khorezm oasis increased several times. It is noteworthy that the transport and logistics infrastructure meeting international standards is being created as part of the initiatives aimed at using the tourist potential.
In particular, a terminal serving official delegations has been built at the Urganch International Airport, and the first stage of the reconstruction of the new airfield complex is in full swing.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyevs visit to Khorezm region began with familiarization with these projects.
The airport was put into operation in 1960. It was awarded international status in 1992. With a total area of more than 285 hectares, this complex has served thousands of passengers over the years. Today, about ten reputable airlines operate regular flights through the airport. This year alone, the airport provided services worth 126 billion soums, and this indicator increased by 31% compared to the corresponding period of 2025.
Rapidly developing times, increasing flow of tourists and the scale of international cooperation put the radical expansion of existing capacities on the agenda.
Investment funds totaling 264 million dollars have been directed to expand and modernize the Urganch International Airport. The project is implemented on the basis of public-private partnership.
The South Korean company Incheon International Airport Corporation, which manages one of the most advanced, high-tech and prestigious aviation hubs in the world, was involved as a private partner of the project.
The President noted that the cities of Khiva and Urganch are becoming a global arena where major international summits, high-level diplomatic meetings, prestigious economic and cultural conferences are held. It was noted that providing a high level of comfort and security for foreign delegations coming to such events directly serves the countrys reputation in the international arena.
As part of the reconstruction, the airport will be able to easily receive wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 747 and Airbus A350. It now allows direct, non-transit long-distance flights from different continents of the world to Khorezm.
Also, in the first stage of the reconstruction works, 18 aircraft hangars and a new turning lane will be completed. In addition, modern border control and visa departments, a comfortable business hall, various shopping and dining outlets, a round-the-clock medical center and a Duty free zone, which includes world brands, are being established at the airport.
After the completion of the project, the passenger service capacity will increase from 300 to 1,300 passengers per hour.
