The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) welcomes the state aid approval of the amended funding directive and the associated funding call for CO2 differential contracts (CCfD) by the European Commission today. This means that there is now final legal certainty for the funding conditions of the CCfDs 2026 bidding process.
On Tuesday May 5th 2026 the BMWE started the 2026 CCfD bidding process. With the funding program the ministry supports investments by energy-intensive industrial companies in innovative future-oriented and low-CO2 production processes particularly in the chemical metals cement lime glass paper and ceramics sectors.
