Press Release No. 052.PR/STH.01.05/III/2026

Tangerang, March 18 2026 - PT PLN (Persero) has prepared 4,769 units of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) spread across the country to serve electric vehicle (EV) travelers during the Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah period. This preparedness was reviewed directly by the Main Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo when checking SPKLU, one of which was at Rest Area KM 43A, Tangerang, Banten, Monday (16/3).
This review was carried out to prepare all electric vehicle charging infrastructure on strategic routes to operate optimally in facing the potential for increased community mobility during this years Eid homecoming flow.
We are going all out to ensure that all SPKLU are in a ready and prime position to serve the interest of EV travelers this year. With an increasingly extensive charging network, electric vehicle users can now travel long distances back and forth more comfortably and without worry, said Darmawan.
As the adoption of electric vehicles increases in Indonesia, the use of EVs for homecoming trips this year is also projected to increase significantly. PLN estimates that more than 23 thousand electric vehicles will be used by people for homecoming trips, an increase of around 60 percent compared to last year.
To anticipate this increase, PLN together with partners continue to accelerate the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in various regions. Currently, 4,769 SPKLU units are available at 3,097 locations throughout Indonesia, an increase of around 70 percent compared to last year.
Currently the average distance between SPKLU is around 22 kilometers. This means that electric vehicle users do not need to worry about running out of power in the middle of a trip because charging infrastructure is widely available, added Darmawan.
Meanwhile, specifically on the Sumatra, Java and Bali homecoming routes, PLN has prepared 1,681 SPKLU units at 994 locations spread along the communitys travel routes. Of this number, 284 SPKLU units are located at 99 toll road locations, while the other 1,203 units are spread across 777 non-toll route locations which are also the main routes for homecoming trips.
This infrastructure readiness is also supported by more than 5,000 standby personnel tasked with ensuring SPKLU operations run optimally while providing service support to electric vehicle users during the homecoming period.
As an additional anticipatory step, PLN has also prepared 15 Mobile SPKLU units which are stationed at a number of toll exit points. This facility is prepared to help electric vehicle users who need emergency charging while traveling.
To increase the comfort of electric vehicle users, PLN also provides digital service support to increase the comfort of electric vehicle users through the Electric Vehicle Digital Services (EVDS) feature which is integrated in the PLN Mobile superapps.
Through the Trip Planner feature, users can easily find SPKLU locations along the travel route and plan charging more efficiently. Apart from that, PLN also presents the Antreev feature which allows users to monitor SPKLU queues in real-time through the Antreev Walk-in scheme.
We also invite the public to take advantage of the Trip Planner and AntreEV features on the PLN Mobile application, so that homecoming trips with electric vehicles can be planned better and more comfortably, concluded Darmawan.
Not only that, PLN is also increasingly pampering electric vehicle users through the EV-TAP payment service. To date, as many as 20 SPKLU units in rest areas spread along the Trans Java homecoming route have been equipped with a payment system via electronic money cards, making the process of charging electric vehicles easier and more flexible.
Apart from that, electric vehicle users who need assistance regarding charging can also contact the SPKLU service via the PLN Mobile application or the WhatsApp hotline 0877-71112-123 which is available 24 hours.
