Rostelecom organized a tournament on the board game Safe Internet at the Volzhanin country health center in the Samara region. More than 40 children from 7 to 11 years old took part in the intellectual competition.
Specialists and members of the companys Youth Council helped the children analyze real scenarios that every Internet user may encounter. Moving chips around the playing field, schoolchildren solved logic problems, solved puzzles and answered questions from cybersecurity experts.
Vyacheslav Dobrynin, director of the Samara branch of PJSC Rostelecom:
The digital environment is a space of not only opportunities, but also risks. Rostelecom strives to give children protection tools. We want them to be more confident in navigating the Internet, avoiding online threats and wisely protecting their data. Safe Internet is not just a game, but an educational course, after which even first-graders understand the basic rules of information hygiene and begin to apply them in life.
During the tournament, children learned to create strong passwords, recognize phishing links, and resist spam mailings. For each correct answer, the teams received points.
Mark, tournament participant:
I had not previously thought about cyberbullying or that a message about a prize on social networks could be phishing. Now I know that you cannot trust your secrets to strangers on the Internet, and the password must be secret and complex. The game helped me understand that free cheese only comes in a mousetrap and you need to think twice before clicking on a link.
Ekaterina Surdina, shift manager at Volzhanin Municipal Budgetary Health and Social Care Center:
We try to fill the childrens summer holidays not only with sports activities and creative tasks, but also with up-to-date information. Rostelecom experts turned learning digital hygiene into an adventure: instead of dry theory, there is a live game and discussion. Its very good that business is included in the educational process.
The board game Safe Internet was developed by the editors of the magazine Rainbow with the support of the provider.
