After five years, the Spatial Data Infrastructure Board met at the Executive Tower on September 18, 2025. Share This was the first meeting following the resolution issued by President Yamandú Orsi, appointing its members for the current term. The Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) Board met on the morning of Thursday, September 18th. This body is comprised of representatives from the Office of the President, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), and the Executive Director of the Agency for Electronic Government and Information Society (AGESIC). The meeting was attended by Diego Pastorín, Director General of the Presidency; Andrés Recalde, Director of Cadastre, representing the MEF; and Daniel Mordecki, Executive Director of AGESIC. They were also accompanied by Germán Iglesias, Coordinator of the SDI. This was the first meeting since President Yamandú Orsi appointed its members. The appointment of the board of directors represents support for the institutionality of the IDE, which has regained leadership after five years, according to the organization. The meeting reviewed IDE projects since its creation in 2014. Among them, the Aerofotogrammetric Project stands out, which consisted of capturing high-quality georeferenced aerial images of the entire country, as well as the generation of elevation models and various cartographic layers such as hydrography, contour lines, and watersheds, among others. Other initiatives include the IDE Geoportal and Viewer. The meeting also addressed the establishment of the Honorary National Council of Geographic Information. Work is also underway on the Administrative Boundaries or Single Address Database project, and on the Single Address System or National Demographic Registry, an initiative coordinated by Agesic. The directive also addressed initiatives to be undertaken in the short and medium term, such as the acquisition of urban orthoimages; resuming work with other organizations to support the production of geospatial information; implementing a virtual training activity for national organizations with the Colombian Spatial Data Infrastructure (ICDE); thematic workshops with representatives of SDIs from the region; and the international integration of SDIs through collaboration with the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM).
