The bridge over the bypass road over the SBB double lane near Glattelden built in 1940 is in a damaged condition and needs to be repaired and reinforced for exceptional transports. The government council has approved CHF 5.38 million for this construction work.The Glattfelden bypass road is a main road and is classified as an exceptional type I transport route width min. 7.50 m load capacity 480 t. The structure leads the bypass road from Glattfelden via the SBB double lane Glattfelden - Eglisau to the Chrzstrasse roundabout. The bridge was built in 1940 and has been classified as a building worthy of preservation by the cantonal heritage authorities. However the bridge is in a damaged condition so that it will have to be repaired for the next 75 years. In addition it does not meet the requirements for a type I exception transport route which is why it should be reinforced.The cantonal civil engineering office plans to start construction work in September 2021. The construction time is around two years. During the construction period traffic can usually be guided over the bridge in two lanes.
