U.S. Senator Marco Rubio R-FL issued the following statement following the appointment of Brigadier General Wayne Monteith to be the Associate Administrator for the Office of Commercial Space Transportation within the Federal Aviation Administration FAA. As we enter this new era of the space age the FAAs Office of Commercial Space Transportation requires a forward-leaning leader. During his tenure as the wing commander for the 45th Space Wing at Floridas Cape Canaveral Air Force Base and Patrick Air Force Base Brigadier General Monteith championed space innovations which led to a dramatic increase in rocket launches. I look forward to working with Brig. Gen. Monteith to continue the U.S. ramp up in space launches in order to maintain Americas space dominance.
