Restructuring the development space after consolidationSpeaking at the conference discussion, Standing Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial Peoples Committee Dang Van Chinh said that the merger of the three provinces of Vinh Long, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh is not only a change in administrative boundaries but also opens up a historic opportunity to restructure the development space, expand growth potential and form a new development pole of the Mekong Delta. With a location connecting economic corridors, between the river economy and the marine economy, between the inland and coastal regions, Vinh Long has the conditions to strongly promote its advantages in transportation, logistics, processing industry, high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, services and urban development. After consolidation, the locality will not only expand its area and population but also converge many development spaces from marine economy, river economy, processing industry, logistics to high-tech agriculture and modern services. This is the foundation for Vinh Long to gradually affirm its role as a connection center and new growth pole of the region. The first Vinh Long Provincial Party Congress has determined the goal of building the locality to become a new growth pole, a dynamic development center, a livable urban area and an attractive destination of the Mekong Delta. In the 2025-2030 term, the province targets an average GRDP growth of about 10%/year; The scale of the economy by 2030 will reach nearly 590,000 billion VND; GRDP per capita reached nearly 170 million VND. To achieve this goal, the province will continue to restructure the development space towards strengthening regional connectivity; develop the marine economy into a strategic pillar; forming a renewable energy center of the Mekong Delta; develop the logistics system associated with Dinh An Economic Zone; At the same time, prioritize investment in key infrastructure projects, especially highways, coastal corridors and strategic bridges connecting with Ho Chi Minh City, the Southeast region and localities in the region. Taking urban areas as a driving force for growth According to leaders of the Peoples Committee of Vinh Long province, in the new development phase, urban areas are not only a result of growth but must become a driving force for growth. Therefore, the province aims to develop urban areas following ecological models, riverside urban areas and smart urban areas, associated with modern transportation systems and synchronous digital infrastructure. This will be the foundation for forming real estate products with high added value, meeting the needs of people, experts, investors and high-quality human resources in the future. Mr. Dang Van Chinh emphasized that urban development is not only a goal of planning but a strategy to restructure the economic space, improve growth quality and create new development poles. The provinces consistent viewpoint is that rapid development goes hand in hand with sustainable development; Economic growth is associated with progress and social justice; Urban development is in harmony between modernity and identity, between effectively exploiting potential and preserving river ecosystems and typical local cultural values. Accordingly, all development policies are aimed at taking people as the center, constantly improving the quality of life and building a safe, civilized and modern living environment, creating a foundation for Vinh Long to develop sustainably in the new development space. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, the advantages of the Mekong Delta are the river system and marine space together. The transportation infrastructure network is increasingly improving. This is a condition for strengthening connections between localities in the region, developing integrated economics and forming new value chains. He said that, in the new development period, local competitive advantages no longer lie in the speed of urbanization but in the quality of development space and the quality of life of the people. Therefore, Vinh Long needs to developDeveloping urban areas that are synchronously planned, fully integrated with infrastructure and utilities, both meeting residential needs and creating an environment to attract high-quality human resources and investors.
