📋 Tender Overview
Following the signing of an agreement with the Municipality of Río Negro for the collection of cooking oil at industrial, commercial and domestic levels in Fray Bentos and Young, Alcoholes del Uruguay (ALUR) has implemented its recycling plan in nine departments of Uruguay. With this action, the company, part of the Ancap Group, transforms it into biodiesel and prevents the contamination of some 2.5 billion liters of water.
The head of the ALUR Logistics Division, Adrián Gómez, the mayor of Río Negro, Griselda Crevoisier, and the general director of Environment, Hygiene and Bromatology, Adrián Stagi, attended the signing of the agreement with the municipality.
To date, ALUR has collected more than 2.5 million liters of oil, which shows that it manages the waste to avoid the contamination of more than 2.5 billion liters of water, the company reported in a statement on Monday 16. The collected oil is transformed by ALUR into biodiesel at its Capurro plant, located in Montevideo.
Additionally, the cooking oil recycling plan allowed reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 6,700,000 kilos of carbon dioxide (CO2). This action contributes to achieving seven United Nations sustainable development goals and contributes to energy transformation.
In addition to Río Negro, ALUR implements the program in the departments of Montevideo, Canelones, Maldonado, Paysandú, Florida, Rocha, San José and Artigas.
