On October 10, 2024, Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu Li Minggang signed a framework agreement on preferential loans with Vanuatu Finance Minister Konapo. Major officials of the Vanuatu Ministry of Finance attended the meeting.
Ambassador Li said that the signing of the concessional loan framework agreement between the Chinese government and the Vanuatu government is an important implementation of the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, which will further deepen the all-weather and all-round friendly cooperation between the two countries. China will continue to maintain cooperation with Vanuatu, implement key infrastructure projects with high quality, and provide assistance within its capacity for Vanuatu's economic and social development.
Konapo thanked China for its sincere assistance to Vanuatu over the long term, and said that Vanuatu attaches great importance to the development of Vanuatu-China relations and is willing to actively participate in the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and strengthen practical cooperation between the two countries in infrastructure and finance and other fields.
