πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

Attending the international conference "Vietnam's semiconductor human resources in the global supply chain", on the morning of May 4, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized the work of training human resources in the IC industry. Semiconductors not only serve the development strategy of the semiconductor industry and the needs of businesses in Vietnam, but also need to be part of the overall problem of the semiconductor chip industry and the global electronics industry.

Experts, scientists, managers, business and university representatives discussed important human resource issues for the semiconductor chip field in Vietnam, such as: The feasibility of train 50,000 semiconductor IC engineers by 2030; Government support policies; experience of the world's leading businesses and universities; Methods of sharing and sharing facilities and laboratories for training and designing semiconductor chips, and ways of forming and dismantling Vietnam's semiconductor workforce.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the semiconductor chip industry is the foundation of the modern electronics industry, playing a very important role in many current technology solutions. Energy systems, transportation, information technology, computing or advances in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), big data (BigData), 5G telecommunications, supercomputers computing, automation, national defense, security... all rely on the increasingly strong development of the semiconductor chip industry.

The semiconductor chip industry plays an important role in shaping the development of many different sectors in the global economy; promoting the global trend of green transformation, digital transformation, and knowledge-based development. On the contrary, green transformation, digital transformation and the development of the electronics industry are strong supports for the semiconductor chip industry.

The semiconductor chip market has maintained a rapid and stable growth rate over the past 20 years, and is forecast to become a trillion-dollar industry by 2030.

The semiconductor chip industry is global. With the characteristics of product complexity, requiring large investment in production and high requirements on labor qualifications, size, processing performance determines the product's competitiveness and advantages. of manufacturers.

The conference is an opportunity for the Government, ministries, branches, localities, businesses, and pioneering training institutions in this field to listen to each other's opinions and discuss to take necessary, methodical steps. has just prepared a development strategy for the semiconductor chip industry in general and the industry's human resources in particular.

Training semiconductor chip human resources does not stop at the domestic market
Refers to the 6 stages of the semiconductor chip industry (material fabrication, chip manufacturing equipment manufacturing, design tools, design, including system design and design processing), manufacturing , assembly and packaging, testing), in which some stages are being kept exclusive, without technology transfer. The Deputy Prime Minister said that developing countries like Vietnam need to take steps and recognize thorough and thorough to have a reasonable and effective approach, participating more and more deeply in every stage of the semiconductor chip industry. That requires a systematic human resource training strategy with different investment and quality requirements.

"Each country has its own strategy to develop products and product groups in the semiconductor industry ecosystem based on its strengths," the Deputy Prime Minister raised the issue and said that along with domestic human resources, Vietnam also has valuable resources in the form of a team of leading experts, scientists, and senior Vietnamese management personnel working at the world's leading semiconductor chip enterprises.

"In the trend of shifting regional and global production chains, human resource training for the semiconductor IC industry not only serves the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy and the needs of businesses in Vietnam but also needs to be part of the overall problem of the semiconductor chip industry and the global electronics industry," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

Solve the 'problem' quickly and build a team of high-quality, deeply specialized human resources
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam is clearly aware of the role and importance of the semiconductor industry and is currently facing a great opportunity to become a strategic destination in the global supply chain of the industry. semiconductor industry.

Vietnam currently has comprehensive strategic partnerships with most countries with developed semiconductor industries. In the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the two sides especially emphasize breakthrough cooperation in innovation and high technology; Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with the United States on developing the semiconductor industry ecosystem within the framework of President Joe Biden's recent visit in September 2023.

Recently, leading semiconductor chip manufacturing corporations (NVIDIA, Intel, Samsung, Synopsys...) have had many working visits, affirming their interest, cooperation, and promoting research and fundamental research. investment and development association, aiming to build key semiconductor production centers in Vietnam.
