Through analyzing the Chinese cinema model This year, the conference aims to identify reference lessons and suggest solutions to build a professional, modern and sustainable film ecosystem for Vietnam during the integration period. Delivering the opening speech for the conference, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, Chairman of the Vietnam Film Development Promotion Association (VFDA), said that when it comes to the film industry, the United States is always one of the typical role models. Hollywood not only produces famous movies, but also builds a complete film ecosystem; where artistic creation, technology, finance, distribution, marketing and exploitation of intellectual property are connected into a sustainable value chain. It is that ecosystem that has created the strength and competitiveness and special influence of American cinema on a global scale. The American Cinema Spotlight program at DANAFF IV provides an opportunity to look back on the journey of more than half a century of American cinemas development, from childhood to the film industry. modernity has worldwide influence, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan shared. According to her, for Vietnam, the story of developing the film industry is becoming more urgent than ever. In the strategy for developing national cultural industries, cinema is identified as a key field, not only contributing to economic growth, but also promoting the image of the country, people and Vietnamese cultural identity to the world. In recent years, Vietnamese cinema has had many positive changes, the market has expanded rapidly, and box office revenue has continuously grown. Many Vietnamese films have achieved impressive commercial success. There is a film that reached a record of 30 million USD, along with many works recognized at international film festivals. Therefore, it is important to research successful models in the world, including the electricity industry. American cinema, not to copy an existing formula but to better understand the important factors that create a strong cinema, thereby finding experiences suitable to Vietnams unique conditions, resources and identity, said the Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Development Promotion Association. The presentations and professional opinions at the conference are an opportunity to look back at the formation and development process of the US film industry, and learn about the factors that create the success of the model. this, and at the same time discuss lessons learned that can be referenced for the development of Vietnamese cinema as well as Asian cinema in the new period. With the presentation Hollywoods global century: Things Vietnam can absorb, re-invent and turn into its own strengths, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Hang, Director of the Weatherhead East Asia Institute and Founder of Global Vietnam at Columbia University, suggested suitable directions for Vietnamese cinema in the integration process. She said that in 1933, when the American film King Kong broke all box office records in Indochina, Vietnam did not have any film businesses. When Kong returned in 2017, the Vietnamese film industry was mature and capable of supporting the production of a multi-million dollar Hollywood blockbuster, Kong: Skull Island. Also that year, for the first time, Vietnamese-produced films achieved total domestic revenue surpassing foreign films, especially in the genres of folk horror and family comedy. These are positive signs that show that the Vietnamese film industry is ready to make a breakthrough.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Hang believes that Vietnam can only recreate Hollywoods success if a generation of filmmakers, distribution networks, technology engineers and the government join hands to realize Resolution 80 of the Politburo on developing Vietnamese culture to the world. However, this expert noted that technology, especially artificial intelligence, can never create authenticity and creativity like humans, and the Vietnamese film industry needs to remember this when accelerating the development of the film industry. She hopes that Vietnamese cinema will make that markn in the global cinema industry in the 21st century.
