Press Release No. 053.PR/STH.01.05/III/2026

Jakarta, 18 March 2026 - PT PLN (Persero) has alerted 439 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) along the East Java to Bali homecoming route to support the smooth travel of electric vehicle (EV) users during the Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah homecoming season. This readiness was confirmed directly by PLNs Director of Retail and Commerce, Adi Priyanto, after reviewing the SPKLU at Rest Area KM 792 A Gempol-Pasuruan Toll Road, East Java.
Adi emphasized that this readiness is a form of PLNs commitment to providing an integrated electric vehicle ecosystem from upstream to downstream, while ensuring that people can enjoy a safe, comfortable homecoming trip and are free from worry about running out of power in the middle of the trip.
PLN has made comprehensive preparations long ago. We have prepared all charging infrastructure on the East Java to Bali homecoming route to be in optimal condition and ready to serve the needs of EV travelers 24 hours non-stop, said Adi.
In line with increasing public confidence in electric vehicles, PLN projects that the number of EV users during this years homecoming period will grow by up to 60 percent compared to the previous year.
This trend is a strong signal that the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia is increasingly mature and increasingly widely accepted by the public.
To respond to this growth, PLN is not only increasing the number of SPKLUs, but also placing them strategically at points with high occupancy levels, such as toll road rest areas, intercity connecting routes, and access to ferry ports.
The distance between SPKLUs is also designed to be an ideal range of around 22 kilometers, so that electric vehicle users can travel more calmly without worrying about running out of power.
With the wider and more planned distribution of SPKLU, electric vehicle users now have more flexibility in planning their trips, while also getting guaranteed access to charging along the homecoming route, he added.
Furthermore, strengthening electric vehicle infrastructure does not only focus on the service aspect, but is also part of PLNs contribution in encouraging the national energy transition.
In the midst of global dynamics, electric vehicles are seen as a strategic solution to reduce carbon emissions in the transportation sector while strengthening national energy security.
The use of electric vehicles not only provides efficiency and comfort, but is also part of a joint effort to build a cleaner, more sustainable and more resilient energy system, said Adi.
Meanwhile, General Manager of PLN UID East Java, Ahmad Mustaqir said that of the total 439 SPKLU units on the East Java-Bali route, 297 units are in the East Java region spread across 158 strategic locations.
Not only strengthening quantity, PLN UID East Java also presents five SPKLU Centers which are equipped with various supporting facilities in an effort to increase comfort while providing a better charging experience for users.
We not only ensure adequate quantities, but also improve the quality of service at every point. With the presence of the SPKLU Center, we want to provide a more comfortable charging experience so that it can support the smooth journey of electric vehicle travelers, said Ahmad.
Meanwhile, in Bali, General Manager of PLN UID Bali, Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho said that PLN is alerting 142 SPKLU units in 93 strategic locations spread across South Bali, East Bali and North Bali.
With distribution that reaches all regions, PLN ensures easy access for electric vehicle users, both local people and tourists who have activities on the Island of the Gods.
We want to ensure that every electric vehicle user can enjoy a smooth and enjoyable trip in Bali, with the support of equitable and reliable charging infrastructure, concluded Eric.
