This project aims to refine a Southern-led vision of equity in research and to develop an action-oriented framework that enables Global South and North actors, such as funders, research institutions and evidence intermediaries, to embed this vision in their research and funding practices. The ultimate goal is to drive change in the research-for-development ecosystem through practical, evidence-based approaches. It emphasizes a shift in South-North and South-South relations in knowledge production, ensuring that historically underrepresented voices, including those of women, have a stronger role.
Among the projectβs activities are an expanded understanding of the concept of equity in research that can translate into practical action and development of mechanisms to assess equity in South-North and South-South research partnerships and collaborations involving selected funders, researchers and other knowledge actors. This will help to assure greater accountability for actions and outcomes and enhance Southern leadership, collaboration and agency.
The project also includes seeking diverse funding partners and building relationships with global organizations and agencies. Efforts focus on mobilizing financial support and fostering collaborative learning and action between Global North and South actors, research funders, policy bodies and other stakeholders. These partnerships aim to catalyze more inclusive, trust-based and effective research initiatives and to align with related projects for greater systemic impact.
