Project Summary
Digital literacy gaps remain a barrier for MSMEs in APEC economies in adopting a safe and responsible adoption of digital technology optimally, hindering efficient, innovative, and inclusive economic growth. To address the issue, this project will explore the development of AI-powered business digital tool to empower business owners, particularly MSME, to improve and grow their businesses. To achieve this goal, a Policy Recommendation will be produced under the APEC publication, providing recommendations to facilitate safe, responsible, sustainable, and effective adoption of AI business tools by MSMEs. A Policy Dialogue will be held beforehand to facilitate knowledge exchange on the current status of policies and programs on AI tools for business use across different economies, best practices in MSME digital development, and successful strategies implemented across APEC economies. The findings from this Policy Dialogue will be important inputs for the Policy Recommendation. Additionally, this project aims to strengthen regional collaboration by promoting adoption of the most effective practices of business cases for the use of AI across APEC MSMEs, encouraging MSMEs to effectively leverage AI to boost productivity, competitiveness, and market access.
