Description
The $156.3 million project aims to improve urban services and climate resilience by investing in priority water supply and stormwater drainage infrastructure and supporting urban reforms including improving ULBs' own revenue base. The project will also support studies for future urban investments with due consideration to climate resilience.
Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy
Key issues confronting cities in India are (i) infrastructure deficits, (ii) worsening environmental pollution and natural resource depletion, (iii) climate change impacts; (iv) high urban poverty (35%); and (v) low institutional capacity and weak urban governance.
Impact
Urban livability of target towns improved with better service delivery and climate and disaster resilience.

Outcome
Inclusive and resilient urban services in project areas improved with the institutional and regulatory framework established (by 2033).
